Quem achou que Mark Zuckerberg fosse sossegar depois da compra do WhatsApp, negociada mês passado, estava enganado! Em uma publicação no seu perfil do Facebook, na última terça feira (25), o dono da rede social mais usada do mundo anunciou a compra da Oculus VR, empresa de tecnologias de realidade aumentada e desenvolvedora do projeto Oculus Rift, um headset de realidade aumentada para imersão em jogos 3D.

Zuckerberg desembolsou um total de aproximadamente US$2 bilhões na compra, dos quais US$ 400 milhões foram pago em dinheiro e o restante, US$ 1,6 bilhão, transferidos em forma de 23,1 milhões de ações do Facebook. 

Em seu anuncio, Zuckerberg conta que a intenção é aperfeiçoar a tecnologia do Oculus Rift para além do mundo dos jogos online. “Imagine aproveitar um assento em um jogo, estudar em uma sala de estudantes e professores de todo o mundo ou consultar um médico face a face — apenas colocando os óculos em sua casa”.
